« Thread started on: May 16th, 2005, 8:22pm »

Well guys I know we haven't been on this for a while so I thought I would post this on here so people may put some reflections and just some old stories, which I know almost all of us have with Jack.

My most memorial moment with him would be the day we transferred to the BIG HOUSE. The whole day we were there, went to Sheetz and he bought all of us lunch. Later that day we got a call and I had the privledge of riding up fornt with Jack driving through the Borough of Chambersburg. It was one of the greatest rides I had ever had on a fire truck.

My list of stories could go on, but I will leave some room for the rest to post.

This is a nice topic for you to have started, Ben. You SHOULD get a reply from all of the members on this board since we all knew Jackson.
It seems as if I came out more enlightened when I was done talking to him about anything. He was just a great story teller, and was so knowledgeable about so many things.
One of the funniest memories that I have of him happened a few summers ago. I had given him money for a Code 3 that I had wanted. Everytime I went to his house, or he came looking for me, we missed each other. Then one day we passed each other in our vehicles at Orange//Fayette. I just waved as he turned onto Orange. He made a u-turn, jumped out of his truck, jumped out into the middle of the street, and conducted a traffic stop on me so that he could give me the truck that I had ordered. It was so funny. My wife and I still laugh about it to this day. But, that was the kind of man he was. He would go out of his way to do anything for anybody.
As far as memorable as related to the fire service... I think any fire engine ride where he was driving. He always knew where he was going, and he knew how to get there FAST. I remember a barn fire on Roxbury Road where he was driving, I believe Louis was riding the seat, and it was myself and someone else in the back of E15-1. I swear to this day that he got that baby airborn cresting a hill. grin
As Ben said, the stories could go on.
We're still thinking about you, Jack. You are sorely missed. cry

bcressler,

Yes, that was the same barn fire. Both WEFR and the Vigilant's have pictures hanging in their stations from that incident. Oh, and BTW, you are still scrawny. grin

I can't believe with 41 members on this board that only 3 people have the courtesy to post on this topic. angry

Mike, I don't know what to tell you for 3 out of 41 making a post about there memories of Jack.

The one memory that I enjoyed the most was everynight I work my regularly scheduled bingo about 7 o'clock he would walk into the door. Last year he stopped in alot because it seemed that all the guys from Ship that were at the T/A stopped in at bingo when they got home. I think that the most we had standing in the kitchen one night was 8 standing there getting the lastest rumors and listening to the guys tell Jack about there week.

On thing to think about Mike, maybe some of the members of this board are not ready yet.

It was one year ago today that brother Jackson was injured in Chambersburg. The year has gone by quickly but not without allot of sad times. I miss my friend very much. Rest in peace Jack.

WardLaFrance,

Amen, Brother. I, too, miss my friend Jack. Not a day goes by that I don't think about both Jack and Keith. Rest in peace, my friends. cry

Mike & Brad, I feel safe in saying that we all feel the same. As I look up at the clock and watch the time pass by. Then my eyes then look upon the apparatus floor only too see the very engine that sat in the parking lot behind the funeral home. It makes me miss the conversations that I had with Jack even more. cry

You all are correct. Time has flown over this past year. I sat down Sunday night thinking and realized what day Monday was. I sat there and just remembered back to that day. It is hard to take that it has been a year. The more you think is that it been almost 3 years since we lost Keith. After some time passes you just keep jumping on the trucks and keeping doing the job time flies right past and you don't even see it.
